The Gospel According to John

“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come” (John 16:12-13, ESV).

“The way in which Jesus presents Himself in the gospel can generally be taken as embodying the evangelist’s own sense of his place and significance for faith. . . .The one immeasurable reality which fills and holds [the apostle’s] mind is Jesus…in knowing Him he has known God as he never did before; in seeing Him he has seen the Father” (Denney, Jesus and the Gospel: Christianity Justified in the Mind of Christ [London, Hodder & Stoughton; New York, George H. Doran Company, 1908], 79-80). Listen to Pastor John read (and paraphrase) excerpts.
